The charity faces constant challenges to keep pace with ever changing medical opinion and technology.

Mammography equipment is extremely expensive with conventional machinery costing tens of thousands of pounds. Not to mention film, chemical and other associated expense. This, for the most part, forms the biggest area of investment together with salaries and wages that the charity has to face.

With a shelf life of approximately 7 – 10 years, x-ray film processing equipment is just one area that we need continuous support in order to upgrade. Towards the end of 2004 the charity appealed to the public for help in renewing this vital piece of equipment. The response has been astounding and up to the end of February 2005, a magnificent £18,236 has been raised. In order to meet the full cost of equipment and installation a further £2,000 is needed but General Manager Linda Harrison says - 'On behalf of all those associated with the charity, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to those individuals, groups and businesses who have supported us so wonderfully and have provided us with the opportunity to purchase this vitally important equipment sooner than at first anticipated. You will be pleased to know that it has now been installed and is fully operational. Thanks must also be extended to Fuji Film (UK), X-Ray Systems for the part they have played in keeping costs as low as possible. Thank you once again.
