Osteoporosis Scanning

Osteoporosis Scanning

Since May 2015 the Lady McAdden Trust has been able to offer appointments for osteoporosis scanning.

We offer this service to men and women from the age of 35.

The machine the Trust purchased is a Calscan DEXA machine which uses a small amount of radiation to take an x-ray of your heel.

Your appointment will take around 15 to 20 minutes and involves an x-ray of your heel which uses a small amount of radiation.

We ask you to wear easily removable shoes and footwear for your visit – avoid tights if possible.

The result of your scan is given to you at the time and you will have the opportunity to discuss the outcome with our clinic Sister.

Your Results

Unfortunately we are not able at present to offer these appointments at the Lady McAdden Unit – clinics are currently held at Southend Medical Centre, 50-52 London Road, Essex SS1 1NX (Opposite Sainsbury’s), and Leigh Community Centre, 71-73 Elm Road, Leigh on Sea, Essex SS0 1SP

To make an appointment simply give us a call on 01702 343288

This service is provided through the Lady McAdden Breast Screening Trust. The Trust receives no NHS or external funding to maintain these clinics and relies totally on donations from the Public.

It costs us around £35 per person to provide this service so any donation you can make toward the cost of your visit would be gratefully received and donation at the time of your appointment can be with cash or cheque.

If you would like to make a donation with a credit / debit card please call the Lady McAdden Unit on 01702 343288 and we can do that over the phone.
